CABINET – 18 MARCH 2008PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT – THIRD QUARTER REPORT OF PROGRESS AGAINST PRIORITIES AND TARGETS

Introduction
1. This quarterly report shows our performance against the key targets contained in the Council’s Balanced Scorecard at the end of the third quarter 2007/2008. The report is presented in the new format that was introduced in the first quarter of this year to provide a clear and easily understood summary of areas for concern.
Corporate Scorecard Summary
2. Annex 1 (Annexes 1 - 3 -download as .xls file) provides an overall summary and uses a traffic light system to show progress within four blocks: Customers, Finance, Process and People. The criteria used for the traffic light system is on page 3 of Annex 1. The report has moved to a system of explicit exception reporting.
3. The numbers of red, amber, green targets are totalled at the top of each block and any red or amber targets listed below and the full list of current targets which make up the scorecard is shown in Annex 3.
4. Annex 2 (Annexes 1 - 3 -download as .xls file) explanatory comments about performance for targets flagged as amber or red.
5. More than 70% of targets for which information is available are on track at the end of quarter three.
RECOMMENDATION
6. The Cabinet is RECOMMENDED to note the report.
