PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT: FIRST QUARTER REPORTPROGRESS AGAINST PRIORITIES AND TARGETS

Introduction
1. This quarterly report shows our performance against the key targets contained in the Council's Balanced Scorecard at the end of the first quarter of 2007/8. The report is presented in a new format to provide a clear and easily understood summary of those targets that are showing red or amber. The new style has been welcomed by the County Council Management Team.
Corporate Score Card Summary
2. Annex 1 (download as .xls file) shows the summary and uses a traffic light system to show progress within four blocks: Customers, Finance, Process and People. The criteria used for the traffic light system is on page 2 of Annex 1. The report has moved to a system of explicit exception reporting.
3. The number of red, amber, green targets are totalled at the top of each block and any red or amber targets listed below. For information the full list of current priorities and targets which make up the score card is shown in Annex 2 (download as .xls file).

4. There are number of targets in the score card that require close monitoring and some where further data will be available in Quarter 2.

5. The Cabinet is RECOMMENDED to note the report
