ITEM CA16

CABINET – 17 JULY 2007

DEVELOPING THE HEALTH & WELL-BEING PARTNERSHIP BOARD

Report by Director for Social & Community Services and

Director of Public Health

Introduction

1.                  The proposals set out at Annex 1 (download as .doc file) were considered at the Oxfordshire Local Area Agreement Public Service Board meeting on 12 June 2007 and Oxfordshire Partnership Board meeting on 14 June 2007 .  Both Boards agreed the proposal to create a Health & Well-Being Partnership Board.

Financial and Staff Implications

2.                  The Partnership Board should help all the relevant public sector organisations to use their resources more efficiently and effectively.

3.                  It will be necessary to create one new post to support the work of the Board, to make sure that it works well and that all stakeholders are engaged. This post has not yet been evaluated but the cost is likely to be between £40,000 and £50,000 (including overheads) for a full year.  It has been agreed with the Primary Care Trust that the cost will be shared equally between the Trust and the Social & Community Services Directorate.  In the case of the Directorate this will be met from within existing resources.

Equality & Inclusion Implications

4.                  Representations of users will be included on the Board.  Other equality and inclusion issues will be addressed as part of the key strategies that will be considered by the Board.

RECOMMENDATION

5.                  The Cabinet is RECOMMENDED to agree the creation of a Health & Well-Being Partnership Board as set out in  the Annex.
