Notes:

Research by market analysts Laing and Buisson indicates there are 123 care home beds (residential and nursing) per 1,000 people aged 75+ in England and Wales. This compares to a per capita for Oxfordshire of 92.4 beds per 1,000 aged 75+. If Oxfordshire were to match this national per capita ‘average’ it would require an extra 1,166 beds.

Oxfordshire county population forecasts predict a 75+ population of 57,100 by the year 2021. In order to provide an equivalent per capita supply of beds (92.4 per thousand 75+) in 2021 a further 1,344 beds will be required in order just to ‘stand still’.
