CYCLE SCHEME
– ADDERBURY TO BANBURY
Description
of the Options
(see more detailed
description of the routes in the Members’ Resource Centre)
Option 1
This
option involves the cycle route on the east side of the A4260 from Aynho
Road to Twyford Road. From that point the route switches to the west side
as far as the Mayfield Road crossing. This option is estimated to cost
£275,000.
Option 2
This
option is the same as Option 1 as far as Twyford Road but would continue
from there on the east side as far as the petrol station in Bodicote.
It would then switch to the west side and continue as far as the Mayfield
Road Pelican crossing. This option is estimated to cost £270,000.
Option 3
In
order to avoid the Aynho Road Traffic lights, this option starts by following
Croft Lane in Adderbury to its northern most end at which point the footpath
along the edge of fields would be widened and improved using a sensitive
crushed stone surface to allow comfortable use by cyclists and walkers.
From the point where the footpath meets the A4260, the route would continue
on the west side as far as the Mayfield Road crossing. This option is
estimated to cost £310,000.
Option 4
This
route is the same as option 3 as far as Twyford Road where it crosses
over to the east side of the A4260. It continues as far as the petrol
filling station in Bodicote and at that point it crosses again to the
west side and continues to the Mayfield Road crossing. This option is
estimated to cost £310,000.
