Decision:

The Leader of the Council, Cllr Liz Leffman, welcomed everybody to the meeting and explained that she was substituting for the Cabinet Member for Children, Education and Young People’s Services, Cllr John Howson, as he was unavailable, as per the Constitutional provision in Part 4.4, Section 2 (b).

 

Officers noted that the request to change category came from the school itself. The Chair noted the report stated that the school would have to provide some funding and officers confirmed that they were confident that the school would be able to achieve this.

 

After a question regarding consultation responses from the Chair, officers stated that the majority of respondents were in support of the changes.

 

The Chair thanked officers for their work and agreed to the recommendation in the report.

 

RESOLVED to:

 

a)     Approve the proposal from the Governing Board of Aston Rowant CE Primary School to change its category from Voluntary Controlled to Voluntary Aided, with effect from 1 June 2024.

04/06/2024 - Fire and Rescue Service Appliance Tender ref: 10466    Recommendations Approved

Due to a previous pause in purchasing new fire appliances, the existing fleet are now superceeding recommended lifespan periods, leading to increased expense for breakdowns, maintenance and repairs and a risk of parts becoming obsolete. Aproval is sough for an additional £1.3m in 25/26 and £1.46m from 26/27 onwards, alongside an initial investment of £2.1m in 2024 to ensure the minimum lifespan of appliances is met.

The Chair welcomed everybody to the meeting. The Chair noted that the decision was to approve the award of a contract for pumping appliances and delegations to officers.

 

The Chair noted the impact of unavailability through maintenance work, for example, and stressed the need to manage this effectively.  

 

The Chair thanked officers for their work and approved the recommendation in the report.

 

RESOLVED to:

 

a)    Approve the delegation of contract award decision for the provision of Pumping Appliances, to the Corporate Director for Public Health, in consultation with the Section 151 Officer, having followed a fully compliant procurement process.
