Any county councillor may, by giving notice to the Proper Officer by 9 am three working days before the meeting, ask a question on an item on the agenda.

 

The number of questions which may be asked by any councillor at any one meeting is limited to two (or one question with notice and a supplementary question at the meeting) and the time for questions will be limited to 30 minutes in total. As with questions at Council, any questions which remain unanswered at the end of this item will receive a written response.

 

Questions submitted prior to the agenda being despatched are shown below and will be the subject of a response from the appropriate Cabinet Member or such other councillor or officer as is determined by the Cabinet Member, and shall not be the subject of further debate at this meeting. The lower speed limits proposal is part of the overall traffic calming measures that form part of the Quiet Lanes programme which aim to make country roads and key links between urban areas more attractive to walking, wheeling and cycling, along with a 20mph speed limit is needed on SPL and an extension of the 30mph on the B4027.

Approve the following speed limit amendments in Stanton St John, as advertised:

 

a)            New 20mph speed limit on Shepherds Pit Lane for its entire length,

 

b)           Extend the existing 20mph speed limit on Pound Lane to its junction with the B4027 Wheatley Road,

 

c)            Extend the existing 30mph speed limit on the B4027 Wheatley Road to a point 95 metres northwest of its junction with Shepherds Pit Lane.

The proposal is to relocate two existing traffic humps which are adjacent to one of the new proposed accesses further along Lechlade Road. The speed humps relocation is necessary to avoid vehicle tilting on turning into the school. Relocation of the speed humps aims to maintain the traffic calming in this area as well as enabling smooth turning into the school.

The County Council is consulting on proposals for residents parking area in roads south of the centre of Wantage in the Priory Road area.

a)    Approve the proposed ‘Permit holders parking only past this point’ at all times area on the entire length of Priory Road, as advertised.

 

b)   Approve the proposed ‘Permit holders parking only past this point’ at all times area throughout Maryfield, as advertised, (subject to the amendment at d) below.

 

c)    Approve the proposed 'No Waiting at Any Time' restrictions (Double yellow lines) on Grove Street, Market Place (West End) and Mill Street, as advertised.

d)   Not approve the proposed ‘No Waiting at Any time’ restrictions on Maryfield, as advertised.

 

e)    Approve further formal consultation of an amended proposal to introduce 'No Waiting at Any Time' restrictions (Double yellow lines) in Locks Lane and Priory Road as detailed in this report.

f)     Instruct officers to undertake further consultation with residents of Locks Lane to consider either further 'No Waiting at Any Time' restrictions (double yellow lines) or inclusion in the permit scheme, and then proceed to formal consultation in due course.
