Report by Deputy Director for Environment & Economy (Highways & Transport) ( CMDT4).

The Leader of the Council considered a report setting out proposals for a highway improvement scheme which would enable the eventual adoption of Higham Way.

The Leader of the Council noted the concerns which, although in the main cautionary, highlighted the specific need to address traffic problems in the area of the station.

Having regard to the arguments and options set out in the documentation before me I confirm my decision on this matter as follows to:

(a)               proceed with the adoption process/land transfer;

(b)               approve the scheme for delivery in 2012, and

(c)               delegate authority to the Deputy Director of Highways and Transport in consultation with the Cabinet Member for Transport, to deal with any specific matters relating to detailed design.
