Decision:

Approved

Minutes:

The Cabinet Member for Highway Management considered (CMDHM6)  responses received to a statutory consultation to introduce a car club parking place on the A4155 Reading Road in a part of the road with currently no parking controls.  Funding for consultation on the proposals had been provided by Henley-on-Thames Town Council, who would also fund implementation as part of the introduction of a pilot car club scheme in the town.

Commending the scheme Councillor Stefan Gawrysiak referred to the benefits to be derived from taking cars off the road. This was a 2-year trial period for 2 cars but the aim was to increase that to 10 in the future. There had been overwhelming support and he thanked officers for dealing with some of the objections received which had been made on the grounds of loss of parking. The scheme had also received the support of the Cabinet Member for Climate Change Delivery & Environment.

The Cabinet Member concurred with the need to radically change current travel habits and provide viable alternatives to achieve that. This was a positive scheme and so having regard to the information set out in the report before him and the representations made to him at the meeting he confirmed his decision as follows:

to approve the proposed car club parking place on the A4155 Reading Road as advertised.
