The report presents responses received in the course of a statutory consultation on a proposal to introduce a 40mph speed limit on the Sutton Courtenay Road and Milton Road linking Sutton Courtenay and Didcot.

 

The Cabinet Member for Environment is RECOMMENDED to approve the proposal as advertised.

 

 

 

Decision:

Approved noting that other options to achieve a safer cycle environment as suggested by Thames Valley Police had been looked at but were not considered viable.

Minutes:

The Cabinet Member for Environment considered CMDE14 responses received in the course of a statutory consultation to introduce a 40mph speed limit on the Sutton Courtenay Road and Milton Road linking Sutton Courtenay and Didcot.

 

County Councillor Richard Webber had indicated his support for the proposals.

Referring to the suggestion by Thames Valley Police that other options needed to be explored for this route the Cabinet Member asked if there were any that merited consideration.

 

Marie Kanayan confirmed that other alternatives had been considered but officers were of the view that these were not viable and the proposal as put forward represented the best option.

 

Having regard to the arguments and options set out in the report and the representations made at the meeting the Cabinet Member for Environment confirmed her decision as follows:

 

to approve a 40mph speed limit on the Sutton Courtenay Road and Milton Road linking Sutton Courtenay and Didcot as advertised and noting that other options to achieve a safer cycle environment as suggested by Thames Valley Police had been looked at but were not considered viable.
