Report by Deputy Director for Environment & Economy - Commercial & Delivery (CMDE4).
This report considers objections to a formal consultation on proposals to introduce some changes to parking restrictions in the St John Street areas in Oxford City Centre, which are required as a result of long-term construction work at St Cross College and which require suspension of some residents’ parking places in Pusey Street.
The Cabinet Member for Environment is RECOMMENDED toapprove the proposed parking restrictions for the St John Street area as advertised and amended as described in the report CMDE4.
Decision:
Approved
Minutes:
The Cabinet Member for Environment considered (CMDE4) representations received to a formal consultation on proposals to amend parking restrictions in the St John Street areas required as a result of long term construction work at St Cross College and which required suspension of some residents’ parking in Pusey Street.
Penelope Lenon thanked officers for keeping residents informed and expressed her support for the amended proposals.
Mr Tole confirmed that there had been close liaison with residents. That had resulted in an amended proposal, which he was happy to recommend.
The Cabinet Member acknowledged the legal reasons why permanent orders were required to introduce new parking bays even if only for a temporary period but that there would an opportunity to review the position in the future.
Having regard to the arguments and options set out in the documentation before him, the representations made to him and the further considerations set out above the Cabinet Member for Environment confirmed his decision as follows:
to approve the proposed parking restrictions for the St John Street area as advertised and amended as described in the report CMDE4.
