PARTNERSHIP ACCORD WITH JOBCENTRE PLUS

Services Jobcentre Plus can provide and some examples of progress that other councils have made:

Standard services:

  • receive all vacancies
  • advertise the vacancies on the internet Job Bank and Jobpoints
  • provide named local contact who can handle the vacancies
  • provide local labour market information
  • coordinate recruitment campaigns

Additional services:

  • handle enquiries, issue application forms and carry out the initial sift
  • make available interview and reception facilities within Jobcentre plus
  • offer opportunities to participate in Jobsfairs
  • identify, design and implement bespoke diversity employment initiatives

Luton

Set up a Council desk in the Jobcentre – nearly 40% of their jobs were filled by direct referrals from Jobcentre Plus.

West Lothian

Targeted hard to fill vacancies in the care sector – 46% improvement in the number of vacancies filled.

Northamptonshire County Council

Home care support workers had a customer-centred, tailored application and short-listing process which cut recruitment time by 5 weeks.

Stoke on Trent

The recruitment of casuals is managed by Jobcentre plus.

The Metropolitan Police

Experienced a lower drop out rate from BME groups when the Jobcentre plus promoted vacancies in their groups. It also services all telephone responses to newspaper advertisements.
