Summary of representations in person

Mr Timberlake reported the latest financial position regarding District Council funding and confirmed that should the District Councils not agree the same level of support then a further report would be required.

Cabinet Member’s Comments

With regard to enhanced support to the community transport sector Councillor Hudspeth highlighted difficulties with budgets at this time and the need to keep this under review throughout the current and future years.

Decision

Having regard to the arguments and options set out in the documentation before me, the representations made to me and the further considerations set out above, I confirm my decisions on this matter as follows:

(a)               to confirm funding of the external transport posts in the amount of £86,290 for the financial year 2009/10, subject to the continuation of appropriate levels of funding from district councils;

(b)               to pay a grant for this provision to ORCC to provide these posts for 2009/10 and to review continuation of this grant funding towards the end of that period;

(c)               to agree that funding for the ORCC proposal for offering enhanced support to the community transport sector could not be supported at present but to continue dialogue on the benefits that this might bring in the future; and

(d)               to authorise the Head of Transport in consultation with the Cabinet Member for Transport to consider how this matter should be progressed in the event that full funding was not forthcoming from the District Councils.
