Summary of representations in person
Mr Deriaz confirmed that there had been a number of incidents at the start of the experiment but that the situation had improved. He added that it was proposed to sharpen the corner of Merton Street and Back Edward Street and provide clearer signing to improve safety.
Councillor Smith welcomed the proposal and the additional works as outlined by Mr Deriaz. She also asked whether consideration had been given to implementing a cycle contra flow system.
Mr Deraiz advised that there would be concerns regarding cars exiting from certain roads.
Cabinet Member’s Comments
Councillor Hudspeth confirmed that a cycle contra flow option could not be included at this stage but it was something that could be referred to the Banbury Traffic Advisory Committee for comment.
Decision
Having regard to the arguments and options set out in the documentation before me, the representations made to me and the further considerations set out above, I confirm my decisions on this matter as follows:
to approve:
(a) that the experimental one-way street Order be made permanent;
(b) implementation of the supporting measures listed in paragraph 10 (a) to (e) and shown at Annex 3 to the report CMDT3; and
