Summary of representations in person
Councillor Smith tabled amendments to the scheme which she considered would alleviate problems regarding egress from Edgecombe Road and referred to problems of buses turning into Edgecombe Road which resulted in damage to kerbs. She asked if there had been any costs incurred from not promoting the bus stop clearway concurrently with this order.
Mr Axtell confirmed that a bus stop clearway order was not required although there could be an opportunity to do some concurrent work. With regard to buses turning into Edgecombe Road he suggested that the situation could be improved if buses observed a more appropriate speed when turning. He advised that the changes suggested by Councillor Smith would require formal advertisement and reconsultation.
Cabinet Member’s Comments
The Cabinet Member agreed that changes at this stage would considerably delay the original scheme and could not support a case for further formal consultation. It was paramount to achieve good access and visibility for vehicles.
Decision
