Statement of Decision

 

North Oxford Cycle Improvements

Summary of representations in person

 

Councillor Fooks welcomed the proposal but referred to concerns where cyclists shared bus lanes, pavements and pedestrian crossings.  She called for clarity with regard to signing and further extensions when possible.

 

She advised that Councillor Roaf had been unable to stay for the item but he supported the proposals and endorsed the concerns which she had expressed.

 

Mr Evans advised that recommendation (b) needed to be amended by adding “Appendix A” and that the earliest possible start date would be Christmas this year.

 

Decision

 

Having regard to the arguments and options set out in the documentation before me, the representations made to me and the further considerations set out above, I confirm my decisions on this matter as follows:

 

to authorise :-

 

(a)               the implementation of the North Oxford Cycle Improvements as shown on Drawing No D&I/A1/0178 and at Appendix A to the report CMDT 4; and

 

(b)               that the length of footway detailed in Appendix A and B to the report CMDT4 be removed under the powers in Section 66(4) of the Highways Act 1980 and a cycle track constructed under Section 65(1).
