ITEM PN5 - ANNEX 1

PLANNING AND REGULATION COMMITTEE -
13 JANUARY 2003

NON-COMPLIANCE WITH CONDITION 2 OF PLANNING PERMISSION (CHD/12412/2-CM) FOR THE 'INFILLING OF THE EXISTING HOLE WITH SOIL AND HARDCORE FOR AGRICULTURAL USE' AT HACKPEN HILL, CHILDREY (Ref: CHD/12412/3-CM)

CONSULTATION RESPONSES AND REPRESENTATIONS

The Environment Agency

No comments.

Vale of White Horse District Council

No objections.

The Countryside Agency

No formal representations.

Childrey Parish Council

The Parish Council see no alternative to granting permission so long as the pit is not over-filled and proper restoration work is carried out. Note that gate is not kept locked or shut.

The Ramblers’ Association (Vale of White Horse Group)

Would like the following considered:

  • The applicant has made no effort to reinstate the public footpath;
  • The applicant is not complying with the Environment Agency’s regulations of use;
  • Considering that the site is within the AONB, and that Local Authorities are currently being urged not to use landfill, the Ramblers’ Association would be happy to see the site closed.

English Nature

Site is adjacent to Hackpen, Warren and Gramp’s Hills Down Site of Special Scientific Interest, however proposal is far enough away from the boundary of the SSSI to avoid having a significant impact on the site.

Thames Water

No objections relating to either sewerage or water.
