COUNTY COUNCIL – 16 JUNE 2009 CONSTITUTION Report by the Monitoring Officer 1. The proposed change to the portfolios of Cabinet
Members will necessitate a number OF consequential changes to the Council’s
scrutiny committees. The proposed new Cabinet 2. Members portfolios are set out in Annex 1 (download as .doc file) (Section E – the Cabinet) with changes highlighted in grey.
3. The changes to the scrutiny committees relate principally to their names, although what was previously known as the Community Safety Scrutiny Committee (now re-named Safer & Stronger Communities Scrutiny Committee) will take in those areas of responsibility previously assigned to Social & Community Services Scrutiny Committee (now re-named Adult Services Scrutiny Committee) which do not relate directly to adult social services or health matters. The proposed new scrutiny committees and their responsibilities are set out in Annex 2 (download as .doc file) (Section F – Scrutiny Committees) with changes highlighted in grey.
RECOMMENDATION
4. The Council is RECOMMENDED:
(a) to note the proposed new Cabinet Member portfolios; and,
(b) to agree the proposed names and responsibilities of the scrutiny committees and, if agreed, adopt them with immediate effect.
