SCHEDULE OF BUSINESS

                                                            Addenda

Additional information in response to Question 16 of Questions with Notice from Members of the Council

Care Home Placements

There were 19 people waiting in their own homes for county council funded care home places in the week ending Friday August 29. These people had waited an average of 161 days. In

  • 13 of these cases (68%) the delay is due to the individuals preferred placement not being available
  • 4 of these cases (21%) the person requires specialist care
  • 2 of these cases (11%) the delay is due to funding yet to be agreed.

Current care arrangements for these people are

  • In 16 cases (84%) the person is currently receiving home care.
  • 1 person (5%) has had a temporary placement and is currently waiting a home of choice.
  • 2 people (11%) are supported by their family out of choice.

Home Support

There were 13 people waiting home support in the week ending Friday August 22. These people had waited an average of 27 days. Of these people

  • 5 currently have confirmed start dates
  • 1 has been agreed with the agency, but no start date yet agreed
  • 4 are being reviewed by agencies with a view to taking on the clients
  • 3 have yet to be sourced with an agency.

3 people have been waiting longer than 28 days (the government target for implementing care plans following an assessment). Of these

  • one has waited 29 days. They are currently being reviewed by an agency and have been supported in respite care in this period
  • one has waited 70 days. They are currently being reviewed by an agency and have been supported with day care and meals on wheels and have been offered a direct payment.
  • one has waited 189 days. This person’s package has subsequently commenced. This is unacceptable & we have instigated an enquiry into this case, reporting back to the Head of Service for Adult Social Care.

We are happy to provide public updates of these figures at regular intervals and will consider the best means to do this and report back once a decision on how to do this has been made. The figures should most sensibly be provided in the context of other performance figures.
