6. Review
of Property Assets
On
15 July the Corporate Governance Scrutiny Committee considered the
Review of Property Assets. The Scrutiny Committee supported the proposals
in general but urged the Executive to ask officers to:
- continue to liaise
on the proposals with District Councils, including the Vale of White
Horse District Council in relation to the Old Gaol, other local councils
and partner organisations;
- look at the implications
for car use/parking/policies arising from the (preferred) option/s for
office properties and staff;
and
drew the Executive’s attention to the importance of tackling the unsustainable
level of assessed property maintenance.
7. Human
Resources Strategy
On
15 July the Corporate Governance Scrutiny Committee considered the
draft Human Resources Strategy. The Scrutiny Committee comment to
the Executive as follows:
- staff retention
should have a high profile in the Strategy, including the use of ‘exit’
interviews;
- Smarter2Partner
should clarify that it focuses on an internal audience;
- unnecessary jargon
should be reduced;
- the Programme
Board should have a high profile in the Strategy;
- the Strategy should
focus also on service delivery to the public;
- the Strategy should
be implemented rapidly and the results monitored actively.
