50 MPH SPEED LIMIT CRITERIA

Preliminary Consultation

• Local members and local councils affected by proposals (the latter as part of their regular meetings where possible) will be approached when potential routes have been identified.
• Speed limit guidance from the County Council and Thames Valley Police giving the basic reasons behind speed limit proposals will be supplied along with details of the proposals.
• Plans showing accident data (including causation descriptions where they form a clear pattern) will be available for local members and meetings of the local councils..
• Officers will be available to attend meetings if requested.
• Where the proposed speed limit abuts the county boundary the adjacent traffic authority should be consulted to establish the limit’s most appropriate extent irrespective of county boundaries.
