ITEM EX13 - Supplement - AnnexEXECUTIVE - 10 DECEMBER 2002CONSULTATION ON THE FUTURE OF WOODEATON MANOR AND IFFLEY MEAD SPECIAL SCHOOLSANNEX - IMPACT ON AGENDA ITEM 14 The decisions from Agenda Item 13 will also directly have an impact on Agenda Item 14 regarding the allocation of school places. If the planned school places for Woodeaton and Iffley Mead go ahead as set out, then this will effectively act in closing one of the schools and adversely affecting the other. I would ask that if the Executive decides not to continue with this suggested consultation, they do in fact continue to allocate the same number of placements for both day and residential, as in April of this year for Woodeaton and for Iffley Mead, at least until further investigation is completed.
Actual Places and funding allocated to Woodeaton School from April 2002 (including residential places):
MONTH ACTUAL LEA FUNDED
APRIL 2002 63 Pupils on site, 20 Residential 42 Funded 20 Residential Funded SEPTEMBER 2002 36 pupils on site, reduction in numbers, 42 Funded, 20 Evidence to show Parents refused places. Residential Funded APRIL 2003 36 Pupils on site, 20 residential places. 36 Funded, 20 Residential Funded SEPTEMBER 2003 Suggested 28 places with no Residential Suggested funding For 10 places Although the school has had many requests for places from parents and other mainstream schools, the above facts show how the places have been decreasing. You will see from the figures that at times they have pupils on their role who are not actually being funded by the LEA. The
suggested allocation of places will certainly result in the closing of
the school. There has never been any proper consultation on allocation
of places with the school, and in fact, changes in number of places allocated
has been implemented more than once a year and with very little notice.
