Summary of the Consultation Presented to the Steering Group

The main issues arising and the group(s) which raised them, were as follows:

Market Square is looking tired and some upgrading of the environment, including re-surfacing, seating, lighting, litter bins and bike stands is required. Some change is needed.

Pedestrian safety should be improved and the crossing points shown in all options are in the right locations.

Concern at the loss of parking in options 2, 3 and 4, particularly short term parking, with no provision for any replacement provision.

Concern at the need for vehicular access to properties on the north side of Market Square and Market Hill throughout the day for collection and deliveries

Concern at the number of heavy goods vehicles, including those making deliveries and those passing through, using Market Square.

Concern at the prospect of the extension of Wessex Way, despite residents of Wessex Way acknowledging that they had been aware of the proposals when they purchased their flats.
