Scrutiny
Committee - Date, Outcome
2 March 2006
The Committee
commented to the Cabinet on the proposed Medium Term Corporate Plan
2006-10 as follows:
Generally:
The Plan
was welcomed.
Members
and officers were congratulated on a well written document.
English
spelling should be adopted throughout.
Acronyms
should be shown in full on first use.
Words such
as ‘later’ and ‘recent’ should be more date/timeline specific.
Calculations
and time frames such as those relating to efficiency savings
and value for money on pages 27, 35, 36 and 38 should be checked
and clarified and/or corrected where necessary.
There was
debate around the inclusion of names against post-holder titles
such as the Cabinet members on page 11 and the County Council
Management Team on page 12. On balance it was considered that
readers would find the names of post-holders helpful if updated
on a regular basis.
Page 4 – Paragraph

Challenges, point 6 – amend ‘and increasing inequalities’ to ‘and

Page 13 - move
the second sentence so that it is shown first.
Pages 22,23
– the data on educational achievement for ethnic minorities should
be clear about whether the target includes English and mathematics.
