Save Old Marston Library

We the undersigned petition the council to abandon its plan to close Old Marston public library.

This library is a much valued asset to the community and is used regularly. It is an essential amenity used and appreciated by a wide public. It is part of our community heritage. We believe that if savings need to made they should be made elsewhere. Even the savings to be made by closing all the proposed oxfordshire libraries will make only a relatively small difference to the overall council budget but a huge difference to the lives of the individuals living in the area.
People with very young children and old people are the most likely to suffer as it is hard for them to travel further afield to the Central or Cowley Libraries using public transport. The closure is not democratic as there has been insufficient or no consultation or discussion with the local communities.
