Report by Director for Children’s Services (CMDCEF5).

This report seeks to revoke a previous decision.

The Cabinet Member for Children, Education & Families approved the previous proposal led by the Governing Body of Icknield Community College to establish a Sixth Form at the College from September 2015. In order for this to happen, the upper age range of the College was to be extended from 16 to 19.

Unfortunately, mainly for financial reasons and new developments since the approval was made, the College now considers it not financially viable to open a Sixth Form at the present time. Reasons for this are set out by the College in the Report.

A formal revocation of the previous approval is now sought, in order to comply with statutory processes.

The Cabinet Member for Children, Education & Families is RECOMMENDED to revoke the decision to approve the extension of the age range at Icknield Community College to establish a Sixth Form.
