Report by Corporate Director Environment & Place (CMDHM8)

This report presents responses to a statutory consultation on the proposed introduction of 20mph speed limits in Bladon.

The Cabinet Member for Highway Management is RECOMMENDED to approve the proposed introduction of 20mph speed limits as advertised.

Decision:

The Cabinet Member for Highway Management APPROVED the proposed introduction of 20mph speed limits as advertised.

Minutes:

The Cabinet Member received a report presenting responses to a statutory consultation on the proposed introduction of 20mph speed limits in Bladon.

Councillor Andrew Gant invited speakers to address the meeting and responded to the points made.

He believed that there was no requirement to provide speed or collision data because the 20 mph limit was a matter of Council policy.  He believed that officers had acted correctly in describing certain responses to this consultation and others as “irrelevant” when that was factually the case.

Councillor Gant noted that consultation was essential but it was not a question of comparing the numbers for and against the proposal.

DECISION

The Cabinet Member for Highway Management APPROVED the proposed introduction of 20mph speed limits as advertised.
