Report by Deputy Director for Environment & Economy – Commercial & Delivery (CMDE6).

Decision:

Agreed

Minutes:

The Cabinet Member considered (CMDE6) objections received to a consultation on a proposal to introduce a 40 mph speed limit on the Milton Road between its junction with the B4016 Drayton to Sutton Courtenay Road and Milton village noting local member support.

Mr Kirkwood confirmed average recorded speeds at around 40 mph so expectations for compliance were high.  Although a rural road there were a number of accesses and an accident history, which it was felt would benefit from this restriction.  There were also precedents for such restrictions.

Having regard to the arguments and options set out in the documentation before him and the representations made to him the Cabinet Member confirmed his decision as follows:

To approve implementation of the proposal for a 40 mph speed limit on Milton Road in the parishes of Drayton and Milton as advertised.
