Summary of representations in person

Councillor McIntosh-Stedman expressed a lifelong interest in tourism and the benefits which it could bring to communities.  She supported the Oxford Tourism Study proposals but expressed concern about reports in the local media on the future direction of tourism in Oxford and the possible closure of some or all of the public toilets in the City centre.

Decision

Having regard to the arguments and options set out in the documentation before me, the representations made to me and the further considerations set out above, I confirm my decisions on this matter as follows: to-

a) endorse the findings of the Oxford Tourism Study;

b) agree to work in partnership to try to achieve some of the actions; and

c) write to the Leader of Oxford City Council expressing concern at reported comments about the management of local tourism and asking how the County Council could work in partnership with the City Council in order to help to develop quality tourism in Oxfordshire.
