ITEM CA13
CABINET - 16 SEPTEMBER 2008
PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT: FIRST QUARTER REPORT
PROGRESS AGAINST PRIORITIES AND TARGETS
Report by County Council Management Team
Introduction
1. This quarterly report shows our performance against the key targets contained in the Council’s Balanced Scorecard at the end of the first quarter 2008/2009.
2. The format of the report has been revised to provide a more detailed summary of performance for closer monitoring and moves away from the practice of reporting by exception only.
Corporate Scorecard Summary
3. Annex 1 shows a one
page summary of the Corporate Balanced Scorecard using a traffic light system
to show performance against each target within four blocks: Customer, Finance,
Process and People.
4. Annex 2 provides a more detailed summary of performance for each indicator in the corporate scorecard. The indicators are grouped by scorecard block and a commentary is included for each target flagged as red or amber. The criteria used for performance are found in Annex 3.
5. There are a number of indicators for which no current information was available at the end of quarter one and these chiefly are those in the new national set of indicators that were finalised at a late stage.
6. Overall performance at this early stage of the year indicates nearly 60% of targets, for which information is available, are on track.
RECOMMENDATION
7. The Cabinet is RECOMMENDED to note this report.
