Implementation of Bus Stop Clearways – Various

Cabinet Member’s Comments

Supporting the proposals Councillor Robertson expressed some concern regarding adequate levels of policing in Bicester and Carterton.

Mr Howell suggested that the Police could be asked to increase enforcement possibly through the Community Support Officers if there was evidence of persistent abuse.

Decision

Having regard to the arguments and options set out in the documentation before me, the representations made to me and the further considerations set out above, I confirm my decisions on this matter as follows:

To approve implementation of 24 hour bus stop clearway restrictions at each of the sites as set out in:

1. Annex 1 (Plans 1 to 4);
2. Annex 2 (plans 5 to 6);
3. Annex 3 (plans 7 to 9);
4. Annex 4 (plan 10);
5. Annex 5 (plan 11);

to this report in order to safeguard access to newly constructed/proposed accessible bus stop facilities by preventing all vehicles except buses stopping within the bus stop area marked on the carriageway.
