Report

Greenmere Primary School Didcot – Proposed Consultation

A copy is attached to the signed copy of this decision.

Summary of representations in person

Councillor Joslin welcomed the proposals for the Fresh Start initiative for the school and urged the Cabinet Member to give the initiative time to succeed and not to put the school into special measures.

Cabinet Member’s Comments

I concur with Councillor Joslin and will seek to avoid putting the school into special measures.

All that is laid out in the report sets out the very best option for the school.  I want to reassure the community that we want to give children the very best education possible and the Fresh Start grant will enable that to happen.  All staff employed in the school will have to reapply for jobs – part of this is to give a quality assurance that Governors are trying to get the very for the school.  All unions have been involved and I recognise that it is important to get the HR issues right.  Redeployment measures will be put in place for those who leave the school.

Decision

Having regard to the arguments and options set out in the documentation before me, the representations made to me and the further considerations set out above, I confirm my decisions on this matter as follows:

to authorise officers to carry out a formal consultation with all stakeholders and to report the outcome of this to the Cabinet on 17 April 2007.
