Report by Corporate Director Environment & Place (CMDHM 20).

A decision is required on a proposed 20mph speed limit.

Decision:

The Cabinet Member for Highway Management AGREED to approve proposals for 20mph speed limits in North Hinksey as advertised.

Minutes:

The report presented responses to a statutory consultation on the proposed introduction of 20mph speed limits in North Hinksey.

The Chair invited speakers to address the meeting and responses to the points made in their statements.

The Chair highlighted some of the objections to the proposals which focused on the usual concerns. One objection raised no new pertinent points and others were comparable to those expressed and considered in earlier similar schemes.

The Chair reminded the meeting of the Council’s countywide programme of works that sought to deliver a safer place with a safer pace. Funding for these schemes was a budget decision taken by the Council to allocate resource to improve road safety i.e. the money allocated would not be otherwise available for other things.
