Minutes:

Cllr Glynis Phillips, Shadow Cabinet Member for Public Health & the Voluntary Sector, declared an interest in Agenda Item 4 on the grounds that;

 

(a)               she had supported to the sum of £5, 000 another Innovista project which involved mentoring young people in Barton; and

(b)               she had accepted an invitation to the Young Achievers dinner in September which was to celebrate the end result of the Allottment Project referred to at Agenda Item 4.

Oxfordshire County Council believes that YOUTH MATTERS and has set up a fund of £100,000 to support work with children and young people across the County. The fund supports the aspirations of those working with children and young people in Oxfordshire to ensure all children and young people can access positive activities in their leisure-time by 2020.

 

The Cabinet Member for Public Health & the Voluntary Sector is RECOMMENDED to consider the applications (listed in paragraph 5 of this report) for grant support in the light of the officer recommendation as set out in the applications annexed to this report.

The awards made in respect of each application was as follows:

 

Donnington Doorstep – Drop In Play Out (DIPO)  - £2,000 towards running the holiday activities

 

Oxfordshire Music Education Partnership – Banbury Rock School - £2,500 – towards the cost of musical equipment

 

Yarnton Parish Council – Yarnton Youth Bus - £1,300 for running of the Bus

 

BHYP – Fresh Starts, Bright Stars - £1,000 towards activity and residential costs

 

Hanborough Parish Council – Tennis Courts Refurbishment - £2,700 (subject to confirmation that it would only be children and young people using the facility)

 

Leys Cdi – Summer Project - £2,500 to cover workshops

 

St. Luke’s Church – Monday Plus and YouthSpace (young people’s groups) - £1,500 towards activities and projects.

 

NB: Innovista – Thrive Allotment Project – it was recommended that they resubmit an amended bid to the next meeting.
