PENSION FUND COMMITTEE – 23 FEBRUARY 2007

ANNUAL PENSION FORUM

Report by the Head of Finance & Procurement

Introduction

1.                  This report is to give Committee an update on last year’s forum, which was held on 29 November 2006.

The Forum

2.                  In an effort to encourage greater attendance by scheme employers, the timing and format of the forum was altered to allow for the presentations to be followed by lunch and an opportunity for networking.

3.                  This was reasonably successful with some 25 scheme employers attending, which was an encouraging increase on the previous year’s attendance.

4.                  Chris Archer, Actuary to the Fund, gave a presentation covering the forthcoming fund valuation and looking at the main points of the new look scheme from 2008; his colleague, Becky Durran, gave a presentation about the issues arising from admission agreements and outsourcing.

5.                  Mr Bushell’s presentation dealt with asset allocation. On the administration side a presentation covered the content and issue of service level agreements.

Feedback

6.                  There has been no formal feedback from employers (an issue to be addressed next time).  However, informal responses have been positive about the changes made to the forum.

RECOMMENDATION

7.                  The Committee is RECOMMENDED to note this report.
