Minutes:
The Cabinet Member for Environment considered (CMDE12) proposals for and responses received to a statutory consultation to amend and introduce waiting restrictions at various locations in Bampton and construct a kerbed build out on High Street to assist pedestrians crossing the road. The proposals had been put forward by Bampton Parish Council who were also funding the scheme to address concerns over safety and the amenity of residents in the village.
Noting the support of the local member she also noted that in addition to expressions of support there had also been some concerns expressed with regard to the kerbed build out element.
Mr Kirkwood advised that there was a certain amount of balancing between different considerations and accepted that there could be some conflict but confirmed that the situation would be monitored.
Having regard to the information set out in the report before her and the representations made to her at the meeting the Cabinet Member for Environment confirmed her decision as follows:
to approve proposals to introduce waiting restrictions at various locations in Bampton and to construct a kerbed build out on High Street to assist pedestrians crossing the road as advertised including a kerb realignment on the junction of Aston Road with Buckland Road.
