Decision Maker: Delegated Decisions by Cabinet Member for Place, Environment and Climate Action

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

The North Wessex Downs National Landscape Council of Partners has approved the statutory management plan for the NWD National Landscape for the period 2025-2030. Local Authority Partners are requested to formally adopt the plan by the end of October. The plan is an update of the existing Management Plan, which was adopted by the Council in 2019.

Decisions:

The Chair introduced the item to the meeting.

Officers confirmed that the North Wessex Downs were one of three national landscapes that extend into Oxfordshire, governed by a partnership. This was confirmed to be a statutory obligation, and the partnership had produced the plan in consultation with the local authority

The Chair asked if other partners had adopted the plan. Officers clarified they were unsure on all partners, but that Vale of White Horse District Council had adopted the plan.

Officers stated that this plan aligned with the recently adopted Council policies of the Local Nature Recovery Strategy and the Biodiversity Action Framework and Action Plan.

The Chair thanked officers and agreed to the recommendations in the report.

RESOLVED to:

a)    Adopt the North Wessex Downs National Landscape Management Plan 2025-2030 at Annex 1.
