Questions from County Councillors Any county councillor may, by
giving notice to the Proper Officer by 9 am two working days before the
meeting, ask a question on any matter in respect of the Cabinet Member’s
delegated powers. The number of questions which
may be asked by any councillor at any one meeting
is limited to two (or one question with notice and a supplementary question at
the meeting) and the time for questions will be limited to 30 minutes in total.
As with questions at Council, any questions which remain unanswered at the end
of this item will receive a written response. Questions submitted prior to
the agenda being despatched are shown below and will be the subject of a
response from the appropriate Cabinet Member or such other councillor or
officer as is determined by the Cabinet Member, and shall
not be the subject of further debate at this meeting. Questions received after
the despatch of the agenda, but before the deadline, will be shown on the
Schedule of Addenda circulated at the meeting, together with any written response

Extension to local stop smoking service Cabinet Member: Public Health, Inequalities & Community
Safety Forward Plan Ref: 2023/353 Contact: Derys Pragnell, Public Health Consultant, Live Well Promote and Prevent (derys.pragnell@oxfordshire.gov.uk) Report by Corporate Director of Public Health & Community Safety The Cabinet Member for Public Health, Inequalities and
Community Safety is RECOMMENDED to: a) Approve the budget for and authorise the
Director of Public Health to extend the current Specialist Stop Smoking Service
contract by one year to 30th June 2025. b) Delegate authority to the Director of
Public Health in consultation with the Head of Legal and Deputy Monitoring
Officer and Section 151 Officer, to award an extension to the Stop Smoking
Service Contract as referred to in this report, in line with the Council
procurement guidelines. Decision: Councillor Nathan Ley introduced the report on the local stop smoking service to the meeting. Cllr Ley noted the negative health impacts smoking has on the United Kingdom as a whole, particularly on families with lower income and those who have mental health issues. Cllr Ley invited Derys Pragnell, Public Health Consultant (Live Well Promote and Prevent), to provide any thoughts on the report, to which there was agreed confidence in the ability of the provider to continue the good quality of service. Cllr Ley thanked the officers for the report and agreed to all of the recommendations within it. RESOLVED to: a)
