Report by Director of Environment and Highways (CMDTMT7).
The
Cabinet Member is RECOMMENDED to:
Approve
the following as advertised:
a) Extend the existing 30mph speed limit on Sugworth Lane (Radley),
b) Introduce a new 40mph speed limit on Bagley
Wood Road (Kennington),
c) Introduce new ‘No Waiting Monday to Friday,
8.30am-9.30am & 3pm-4pm’ (single yellow lines) parking restrictions on both
sides of The Avenue (Kennington), and
d) Construct a new Zebra Crossing (for use by
pedestrians only) on St Swithuns Road (Kennington).
Decision:
Recommendations approved.
Minutes:
The Chair invited officers to provide some background
information to the report.
Officers noted that people drive to the conditions of the
road, rather than the national speed limit on Sugworth
Lane.
Officers stated that a reduction in speed limits on Sugworth Lane to 30mph or 40mph would not be productive
based upon data collected and due to the nature of the road.
Following a question from the Chair, officers confirmed that
a Road Safety Audit would be conducted post-completion of the works.
The Chair requested that the local County Councillor and
local parish council be kept involved in discussions and officers agreed to do
so.
The Chair thanked officers for their work and agreed to the
recommendations.
