The report presents an objection received in the course of a statutory consultation on a proposal to amend the operative hours of the 30 minute Vehicle Loading Bay on the eastern side of The Plain roundabout.

The Cabinet Member for the Environment is RECOMMENDED to approve implementation of proposals as advertised.

The Cabinet Member for Environment considered a report (CMDE5) which presented objections received in the course of a statutory consultation on a proposal to amend the operative hours of the 30 minute vehicle loading bay on the eastern side of The Plain roundabout.

Presenting the report Mr Tole confirmed that the proposal would tidy up an anomaly that had arisen following the major scheme at The Plain, whereby the hours of operation of the taxi rank and those of the loading bay were not conterminous which meant that it was difficult to enforce the restrictions

The Cabinet Member for Environment acknowledged that the issue of taxi provision was a matter for the City Council as licensing authority but recognised that the efforts to rationalise the situation at this site were sensible.  Therefore having regard to the arguments and options set out in the report and the representations made to him he confirmed his decision as follows:

to approve implementation of the proposals as advertised.
