Report by Head of Property (CMDF2).

(Statement of Decision)

On 16 January 2007 the Cabinet (Minute 12) approved the business case for the Review of Property Assets (now the Better Offices Programme) and resolved to:

(a)               agree the funding required to implement the programme, subject to a project appraisal for the necessary capital expenditure being approved by the Cabinet; and

(b)               authorise officers to pursue negotiations for the acquisition of additional office space in the South.

The Detailed Project Appraisal sets out the proposals and financial implications of acquiring the additional accommodation.

The detailed cost estimates are set out in the Annex attached to the Appraisal. It is RECOMMENDED that the public be excluded before consideration of the Annex since it is likely that if they were present during consideration of that item there would be disclosure of exempt information as defined in Part I of Schedule 12A to the Local Government Act 1972 (as amended) and specified below in relation to the item:

the public should be excluded during this item because its discussion in public would be likely to lead to the disclosure to members of the public present of information in the following prescribed category:

information relating to the financial or business affairs of any particular person (including the authority holding that information)

and since it is considered that, in all the circumstances of the case, the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighs the public interest in disclosing the information.

THE ANNEX RELATING TO THE EXEMPT ITEM HAS NOT BEEN MADE PUBLIC AND SHOULD BE REGARDED AS STRICTLY PRIVATE TO MEMBERS AND OFFICERS ENTITLED TO RECEIVE IT.

The Cabinet Member for Finance is RECOMMENDED to approve Detailed Project Appraisal CMDF2.
